College Dorm Room Essentials
The idea behind college gift registry is to help you select the main college essentials that you will need when starting college.
There are plenty of list sites out there but College Gift Registry is different, we let you add all the items you want and/or need to a registry list that, like a bridal registry, you can then send to family and friends who will get you the stuff you selected. Essential items to consider include:
- A computer, there are quite a few things to consider like is it going to be PC based or an Apple based laptop. Will it be a netbook or a notebook/laptop the former is fine for browsing the internet as well as doing homework and the latter for playing games and edit videos or watching movies in high definition wide screen format.
- Printers, how much printing are you going to do, is it going to be just Word and PowerPoint documents or will you be printing photos and pictures too? These points will help you in deciding whether you should buy a laser or inkjet printer and whether it setup to reproduce good photos.
- Bedding, most dorm beds are not the standard twin size – they are twin-XL. So make sure that any sheets are twin-XL as well as any mattress topper or pad that you may purchase.
- Somewhere to warm your food – a microwave is a must, if you are sharing a room contact you dorm room mate and decide which one of you will bring the microwave, there is no point in bringing one each.
- Somewhere to keep your food cold and fresh, similarly for a refrigerator, only one of you should bring one if you are sharing a room.
- Stuff to help personalize your dorm room; there a hundreds of ways to do this but the easiest is getting posters and a large message board.
